We are thrilled to say that day 1 is complete and everyone and everything is in one piece!
We left John O’Groats early this morning being flagged off by the Lord Lieutenant of Caithness (picture below) and began the drive south for 300 hard, cold miles to the formal Monte Ramp Start in Paisley. Upon our arrival, we were honoured to have Victor Riley himself in our presence (the living link to the Riley Motor Company of Coventry). And, after a bit of a scramble to get on the start ramp, we were on our way!
Our travel went as planned and we have arrived in Dumfries having completed over 300 miles, averaging 29.6 mph. A long and exciting day for us. Now, a quick check-in and off to bed. We have a few more hard days ahead of us and need to rest for the final two days which will be the longest.
Thank you to all that have supported us so far– it’s encouraging to read all of the posts, messages, articles. We hope you stay with us until the end!
