We are proud to introduce one of our teams representing New England and New York City, Chrisso Rheault and his navigator, Melanie Dees. Both are first timers on the Monte, but old hands at vintage car events. Chrisso and Melanie will be competing in the 1931 Riley 9 War Department Tourer.
Rheault has been around vintage cars his whole life having grown up with a Riley Imp in the family (albeit with a 12-4 engine so he’s not sure how he’ll adjust to the 9HP of the WD). He grew up in the state of Maine and lived in Scotland for several years so is very much looking forward to the jaunty outing in the fresh mild weather (at least that’s what he’s told his navigator!).
Dees grew up in Louisiana but has lived in France for many of the last 15 years. She teaches French at McNeese University and has navigated Bugatti rallies in the US and Scotland.
The 1931 Riley 9 WD is no stranger to the Monte having competed in the 2016 event when it travelled from John O’Groats to Monte Carlo- over 1,600 miles in 4 days. The only faults were a blown dipped headlight bulb and a paper exhaust gasket. Since the Monte, the WD has covered over 12,000 trouble-free miles. So here’s to over 1,300 more..
More to come on Chrisso and Melanie’s Monte adventure..
